Some of the greatest pedestrian (competitive walking) matches of the 1870s and 1880s took place at the Royal Agricultural Hall in the Islington district of London. The Aggie, as it was known, was built in 1861, and it is still standing. Today it is a conference center known as the Business Design Centre. It is the last great pedestrian venue still extant.
